City solicitors hit out at SRA’s “instinct to overregulate”
The City of London Law Society said there was a consistent theme of the regulator “proposing additional regulatory burdens on firms where there are already provisions in the SRA regulatory arrangements to deal with the situation that is of concern”. This approach was also “inconsistent with the government’s view that overregulation inhibits economic growth”. “Given the contribution that the legal professional has already made to economic growth, this is a concerning approach.”
