Champion of the Oppressed

A powerful example of dedicated work to secure convictions and compensation for victims comes from the work of Liam Symonds, an Associate in Freshfields’ Dispute Resolution practice, who has won the 2024 Wig & Pen Prize (awarded jointly by the City of London Law Society and the City of London Solicitors’ Company) in recognition of his pro bono legal work to secure an award from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) for a modern slavery survivor.
