SRA’s unlimited penalty proposals slammed as“arbitrary”
Report from The Lawyer on the CLLS's response to the SRA's financial penalties paper, highlighting that the CLLS has described the proposals as in places "arbitrary and not fit for purpose".
Quotes Iain Miller, Chair of the CLLS PRRC, as saying: “The more we went into the SRA paper, themore confused it became. It looks as if the SRA has offered a policy without thinkingthrough its ramifications, without a clear grasp of the essentials, and without anyproper consideration of the underlying law. We urge the SRA to reconsider itsproposals”.
