Plan To Cut Apprentice Funding Could Hinder Diversity Efforts

Law360 report on concerns around proposed cuts to apprenticeship funding.

The article notes the CLLS's concerns that removing funding for the Level 7 solicitor apprenticeship might "negatively affect how aspiring solicitor apprentices, especially those from lowsocioeconomic backgrounds, view apprenticeships".

Chair Colin Passmore is quoted as saying: "We have worked so hard to reassure high-achieving students from low socioeconomicbackgrounds — and their parents — that the apprenticeship route to qualification as a solicitor isjust as prestigious as the traditional University route."
